New Dimensions with Weirdcore and Boiler Room

…or how we all collectively entered the Woofaverse.

Published on

Known for immersive, otherworldly artworks, the London-based polymath Weirdcore has consistently pushed the boundaries of audiovisual storytelling (otherwise known as “wtf-ness”). And since we’re always looking for new ways to redefine the possibilities of artistic production, our most recent collaboration brought his signature style into Superstudio, proving that the future of art is as weird as it is wonderful.

Kaiber Labs worked with Weirdcore to produce visual animations that became the baseline for local hero Yaeji’s Boiler Room set in Brooklyn. The venue: a sold out Brooklyn Mirage complete with a 20,000 pixel wide wraparound screen. Needless to say, the joint initiative ushered us all into new dimensions of technology, creativity, and innovation.

Creative Storytelling with Woofa

An abbreviation for “subwoofer,” Woofa is one of the many adorable anime-inspired characters from the ever-evolving universe of  Korean-American DJ, producer, and artist Yaeji. For Yaeji’s headline Boiler Room performance in August, Labs and Weirdcore took inspiration from the artist’s moodboard to create a series of imaginative animations and emojis for her ever-expansive Woofa-verse.

We even worked with Weirdcore to create dancing humanoid Woofas with a process called clones parade. You get the idea.

A Kaleidoscope of Aesthetics

Weirdcore is an artist who effortlessly pushes the boundaries of creativity, as seen in his pioneering collaborations with Aphex Twin, M.I.A., Miley Cyrus (and many others).

His aesthetic thrives on a delicate balance of chaos and precision. While generative tools laid the foundation for these animations, our Labs team fine-tuned every detail to reflect his lo-fi, experimental style—scaling it for a larger-than-life stage.

The result? A kaleidoscope of aesthetics: Woofa confetti, the New York skyline, fireworks, cracked CDs, and playful balloon lettering. These kinds of mashups aren’t just breathtaking or stunning—they offer a sneak peek into the wild, weird future of creative production. So stay tuned…this is only the beginning.
